Today’s Podcast is from a recent Blog by RADM(ret.) David G. Simpson. Simpson shares his concerns that in the absence of a ‘Buy American’ requirement in the proposed NG911 Infrastructure Bill, that is currently in front of the Senate, will create a backdoor and allow our adversaries an opportunity to sneak in nefarious software code hidden in critical infrastructure that could expose confidential and sensitive law enforcement data. This kind of leak would put public safety and the NG911 network at risk from cyber-attack. It also could expose sensitive personal information about citizens. Worried? You should be. It’s actually a very valid concern but is easily remediated with the proper language and NIST requirements placed in the Bill providing oversight on government spending.
