A recent FCC Office of Inspector General report has flagged fraud in the FCC’s Emergency Broadband Benefit program. The Commission said it plans to investigate and seek to recoup any funds which were distributed to unqualified households. The Commission also vowed to refer violators to its Enforcement Bureau for action. The EBV and its replacement ACP programs are designated to provide broadband subsidies in an effort to close the homework gap created from the lack of public Wi-Fi.
