1 Week after launching 49 new satellites for low earth orbit to supply the new SpaceX broadband Internet service, 40 of the units were unable to survive despite going into “safe mode”, reentering the earth’s atmosphere where they completely disintegrated. SpaceX confirmed that no other satellites were at risk of a collision, nor was any of the debris going to make it to the surface.
